"Cosmic-Grade Graphite" with a Purity of 99.99995% has been Successfully Developed by China

On August 24, 2025, Luobei County in Hegang was officially honored with the title of "China's Graphite Valley." A series of groundbreaking achievements—including the world's largest smart graphite mine, "astronomically priced" graphite with a purity of 99.99995%, and electric mining trucks that operate at -30°C—have drawn widespread attention from international media.

In just five years, Luobei's graphite mining industry has undergone a transformative evolution. The former Yunshan Graphite Mine, once consisting of five scattered small mining sites, has been integrated and upgraded into a 6-million-ton intelligent mining operation—now the world’s largest in both single-site reserves and production.
At the same time, China’s team of experts broke through multiple technical barriers and successfully developed "cosmic-grade graphite" with a purity of 99.99995%, fundamentally reversing China’s previous reliance on imports for 80% of its high-end graphite materials.
